Simple question can I use a 150g 303 Sierra SP bullet (.311) in a 762x39 case? My Hornady loading manual has a load for 150g (.308). I pulled one of my surplus Norc bullets and measures (.311) and I have some Hornady 123g (.310). Figure there should be no problem just want to make sure. Gun is an Eagle Arms AR which doesn't like surplus 762x39 ammo, fires 1st round but just a hair short of picking up the 2nd one, not enough umph. It has a PRS stock with the short buffer and I've tried a couple of different but same length buffer springs. I reloaded using 25g RL7 and the 123g Hornady, works real good. Want to try the 303 bullet with 21.9g IMR 4198. Thanks for any help.

The difference is minimal i dont see any problem 310, 311 this is close ,the real problem is you wont have enough HP in the 39 to push them over 2200 fps, it gonna be a rainbow trajectory for longer shots... JP.

Ok, just that I ran out of the 123g and have 3 boxes of the 303. As long as it shoots and cycles that's all I care. Tx.

As always, start low and build your way up. You've never said if you've slugged your bore or even had it measured yet. Don't make assumptions that ANYTHING will work.

Let caution be your guide. You're shooting an AR - not a bolt gun. What looks good on paper may work misserably in your situation.

I shoot 150 .311 out of my sks. I'm normally lazy and I just pull the bullet out of a surplus round. I take one grain of powder out of the case and have no issues with pressure. It is a decent deer round out to 200 yards but because they are going slower you must know how you bullet will drop with the 150 before taking that shot.
