Reloading .257 Weatherby Magnum

Not new to reloading as I have now reloaded about 1000 rounds of .204 (####ing LOVE that round). Although this is my first time reloading a Magnum cartridge and I have a few questions. Do I need to crimp the case?, I got redding dies and it didn't come with a crimper so I am thinking no?. I got 87 grain Sierra varminter rounds that are not boat tails so I have to use a deburring tool on the inside to flare out the case mouth so I can fit them in, if I end up flaring it too much can I just resize it and try again or am I screwed?. I am doing all of this for a friend since he ignored my advice to just get a .243 since he had a hard on for a magnum and got this instead. I can't believe the brass is so damned expensive though, just over two bucks each!! :eek: . Although he is a rich rig pig so he doesn't give a #### :mad: . No factory ammo available so I am getting him into reloading.
 
First off, deburring tools do not flare, only chamfer so there is no need to resize. A quick twist of the wrist and you're done. The force of the ram during seating will push the bullet in no problem. As for the crimping it is not needed, but unless your using a competition straight line type seater the Redding die will have a built in crimper.
 
Yup, what A&Shunter said is right. No need to flare the case.and no need to crimp. As well belted rounds, once fire formed to your chamber can be treated like a non belted round when sizing.
 
Ok because I encountered this problem with non-boat tail bullets for my .204 and I had to do it otherwise I'd crush the case. The brass is so expensive I don't want to
mess it up. just using regular non competion redding dies. Thanks for the help guys. Gotta grab a shell holder and I'll be seating them tonight here's hoping!.
 
First-off, we prefer the term "Oilfield trash".:p

Next off, you can buy Weatherby ammo from Frontier for the price of the brass.

Thirdly, you can run new 7mm Rem Mag brass through the FL die and it comes out as slightly short but perfectly functional .257 Roy.
