Hello all,

Have a friend looking to load some hunting ammunition in the next few weeks. We have some H414(same as W760) and would like to load for 30-06 and 308. For simplicity we are starting with Nosler 180 gr Accubond in both to see how it work out. Has anyone here loaded this combo and would be willing to offer some advice My Nosler manual has info for both calibers but I was looking to see if anyone had any loads that wee accurate and were willing to share. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It's a good flexible powder that duplicates the 4350's performance range in a precise measuring ball powder format.
For me, it's done it's best in /06 and /08 with heavier bullets loaded close to max., and with magnum primers if used in colder temps..
Like the stick 4350's, it will start to get somewhat more sensetive and sudden to smaller charge increases as one approaches max. for that particular firearm, especially the smaller /08 case IME. It cannot be compressed more than a smidgeon.
Good stuff, wish I had me a whole lot more of it than I do at the moment.

I have burned up a real pile of both H414 and W760 [for all practical purposes, identical] in the 30-06 with both 165 grain and 180 grain bullets.

My pet load with the various 180's has been from 54.5 to 56.5 grains, depending on the specific rifle. I have always used CCI 250's with these powders.

With the 165's, about 2 grains more powder works.

Regards, Dave.

First off, just because someone has a load that is accurate in his/her rifle does not mean it will be accurate in yours. It may not even be a good place to start.

Start with 50 grains and work from there up to 54-55 grains. All should be well from there. Just pick whichever charge gives the best accuracy. By the way, H414 being a ball powder burns more uniformly with a magnum rifle primer.
