Reloading 30 Cal 110 Grain Bullets in the M14?

I'm trying to minimize damage on predators and 150 grainers make really large exit holes, has anyone had any success reloading 110 grain bullets for their M14?

How'd they shoot? How does the M14 work with them and an 18.5"/1-11 twist barrel? I know the twist isn't optimum for that bullet weight but I thought I'd give this a try.

Any suggestions for loads, bullets or powders would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I love the smaller boolits in the M14. I used to hunt with 125 grainers, PSP slugs on the groundhogs and it just blows 'em up real good.

Yes, that's me with my M1A 'outstanding in the field' way back in 1994.

Now about the 110 grain bullets, I'm only worried about the blunt noses not making it up the feed ramps from the magazine platform.

Any experiences out there in M14 Addiction-Land? :nest:

I've had good results with feeding Hornady 110 VMAX and Speer 110 Spitzer SPs in my M14. They are accurate out of my 1-12 22" Norc barrel.

I loaded 110 grain speer psp's and they worked great. The COL tends to be a tad on the short side in order to get some bite on the bullet with the case neck; but they shot accurate nonetheless.

Good to hear, I just bought some 110 V Max's, any suggestion on powder charges for this bullet using imr 4895 or other powders.
