reloading .300 winmag for multi-purpose

Some of the loads for the 300 are more accurate when loaded down as evidenced in the Nosler book. Why did Remington create three loads for the 300 Ultra Mag that are "loaded down" to 300 Win Mag and .30-06 energies? Because . . . there was a request for that or there was money to be made.
My .338 WM like to be loaded to the nutz but I have not experimented enough with the 300 WM.

Because some guys that have a 300 RUM so that they can say "I have a 300 RUM" can't handle a 180 grain bullet going faster than 2900 FPS and there's money to be made from those jokers. It makes no sense, but it's no different than a lot of things in life. Like the stars in the sky and the ebb and flow of the tide...just let it be.

That evidence is pertinent for the firearm they used for the load development in the manual. Every gun is different. My 300 is like yours, there is a noticeable gain in accuracy at the upper end of the velocity scale.
 
I shot a 300 Win Mag as my only big game rifle for 12 seasons...I had a 270 but it seemed like it was loaned out most of the time...hitting a deer with a 180 out of a 300 Win at 300 yards is no different thatn hitting a deer with the same bullet out of a 30-06 at 200 yards....and , is the 30-06 "too much for deer"?...or the 308?....

this stuff is so "over analyzed" it's rediculous.....

Ballistic tips are garbage...I thought you were talking about Partitions or Accubonds.
