Reloading 303, any experience with Prvi or Campro bullets?

A little trouble with bears out here recently (now resolved) has made me think I should get my sporterized P14 .303 Epps shooting again. I have a few Sierra Prohunter 180 gr. and was going to order some more (only P&D seems to have them) but saw that Budget Shooter Supply has Campro and PPU. Didn't even know Campro made jacketed bullets. I have some old Remington and Hornady RN but these won't feed in the Epps as I recall. Has anyone had any experience with the others?

If you're dealing with bears you won't want FMJ, will you??

The Campro say "Made by General Dynamics", so they were probably made for the CF and repackaged. I have a bunch waiting to get loaded up too...

Nope. These aren't FMJ

Oddly enough, I have some Frontier Game Ranger FPFMJ. I have no idea why or when/how I got them. Probably penetrate like stink but not interested in using one on a bear.

Tradex and cabelas carry the .311 180 pro hunter. I think wolverine guns and tackle does too. I can usually find them listed all over with a quick search.

Just a word of advice, because of the design of the web of the cartridge case of the .303 cartridge, if you full resize your brass, your case life will last 3-5 reloads maximum. Invest in a .303 broken case extractor before you have an incipient case separation.

Couldn't find them on either website :( Am loathe to buy anything from Cabela's due to their silence/indifference on C-71 and the OIC. F*** em!
P&D has the Sierra I think. Budget has 150 gn but not 180. Wolverine only has .308 150 gn.

Am just curious about CamPro and Prvi at the moment.

@Garand- Yup. Learned about that years ago. Neck-size only :)

I have some campro in rifle and pistol calibers I have not really tested them extensively tho. Pistol calibers seem to have some reviews and nothing really bad to say. The rifle bullets tho are more a mystery not much testing or reviews where do you get that they are used for loading for like rangers or ivi ?

I've had so-so results from the Campro. They are a jacketed bullet, for sure, but dont compare well accuracy wise to the Sierra or Hornady offerings. I've shot them in known to be accurate 303's (scoped P-14's and Rosses) and am typically getting 2 1/2 inch groups at 100y. The Hornady and Sierra's can get under an inch in a tuned load.

Just some added info, I use a .303 British Redding case forming and trim die to just bump the shoulders back. The die is oversized and you can drop a fired case into this die and it will fall back out. All this die will do is push the shoulder back and not touch the case body or neck of the case. I use this die when my neck sized cases become harder to chamber to only bump the shoulders back.

Beats me.... Someone mentioned FMJ and I remembered that I have some Frontier FMJ FP. I am clearly looking for something that expands nicely in med.-size game (like a black bear, not one of those friendly gtizzlies in your sig. video!)

I’ve never had great luck getting RN bullets to feed reliably in any of of enfields. P14 no issues though.
i haven't shot mine in ages but as I recall the Remington 180 gn. RN fed fine in my Nº4 and Jungle Carbine, and in the P14 but not after conversion to .303 Epps.
I've read good reviews on the Prvi .303 ammo so I think I'll get a bag of the 180 gr. SPBT from Henry and try them. It's a BSA-made P14 and is very accurate.

This has been my experience as well with 2 different 303 rifles. Weight from bullet to bullet was inconsistent with the Campros when compared to the Sierras or Hornady I had on hand.

Sierra's have seemed to have jumped in price by about $10 per hundred for the models I am interested in. I'll be developing something with the Hornady's going forward when current bullet inventory is depleted. I would look at PRVI but I haven't seen them in a flat bottom bullet. The 303's I have don't like boat tails otherwise I would give the PRVI offerings a go.

Ronr

Just curious, did you bother "tuning" any loads with the Campro bullets? I wouldn't expect much out of a RN bullet myself but 2.5"/100 isn't great.
