reloading 357mag

You might want to purchase and read a couple of reloading manuals..then come back and ask..The powder manufactures web sites have reloading data, also a good place to start.

Depends on what you want to do with it. What kind of bullet, etc.

I reload my .357 with light/wimpy WC loads, mid-level target loads and full blown H110 fun loads. Titegroup for WC's and target loads.

Have to load 231 just for my 686 since it doesn't like my mid-level Titegroup target loads like my Ruger does. But both guns like the same H110 and WC load.

Don't bother with Magnum primers unless you can get them cheap. I still have a couple of unused boxes since Titegroup, 231 and H110 all light up fine with regular SP primers.

I have been using Bullseye with good results. Anywhere from 5-7 grains makes great cheap plinkers.

For the hotter loads 2400 is a good powder. I used it for .44 mag, but haven't bothered loading any hot .357 mag yet.

As far as primers go, I have never used a magnum primer for .357 or .44 mag, and have loaded thousands without issue.

i purchased the abc's of reloading, and the 49th edition lyman reloading manuals and got a ton of good information out of them, i've tried tightgroup for the 357 because i was using it in my 38's and i felt there was no where near enough bang in comparison to a factory load

i also tried unique and liked it but i still think i could do better

basically my plinking rounds i'm thinking i'll continue to use unique in my 38s but when i shoot 357's i want something hot

For the .357, I've been using IMR-4227, Accurate #9 and 2400, and I'm getting best results with 2400. (Ruger GP100, 6"). Federal #200 primers (small magnum pistol) only, but I got a deal on a brick of them. And they work well.
