Reloading .38 sp with VV N310

I dug out my older VV load manuals one from 1995 and the other, a supplement from 1998. No load data for n310. Amazingly they show load data for 357 with n310. You could try the assorted reload sites and see if someone has cooked up a load.

I've never used any of their powders but based on the bit of research I just did, it's a very fast burning powder and vv only lists 2 loads for the 357mag using 110gr bullets and 125gr bullets. They list the starting loads at 6.6gr and 6.0gr respectively, max is 7gr and 6.4gr.

Assuming you want to use 148gr HBWC's and it's a shorter case I would start at 3gr maybe even less. I would try it in a ruger or other beefy revolver and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure if it's a sensitive powder like h110/w296 with regards to undercharging.

Do so at your own risk of course, your in uncharted waters from what I can see. I would likely just find another more suitable powder though.

I am surprised it is not listed fro the 148WC. Bullseye used to be the standard powder for match ammo, and N310 is in a similar range.

I have used N310 to make match ammo in 38 Spl and 45 ACP and got outstanding results.

In 38Spl, solid 148WC, 3.0gr

Sweet, I'm as good of a reloader as the great ganderite! Lol.
