Results today: 350gr TTSX and 210gr 41 cal

• 350gr TTSX & Re19 mild load decent muzzle speed ~2785 fps
• 350gr TTSX 100m POI close to 300gr TSX
• paper patched 210gr 41 cal & Blue Dot accuracy not bad for plinking***not a recommendation***
• .410" dia. bullet patch bumps dia. up to ~.415"***don't try this at home or elsewhere***
• checked off hand accuracy 300gr TSX @ 3000 fps mv
• highly effective muzzle brake felt recoil reduced down to .308 Win level

Results today: Barnes 350gr solids RN / FN

• surprised ~200 fps lower muzzle speed with same 350gr TTSX Re19 powder charge??
• appear to be relatively low pressure loads
• re-chronographed 350gr TTSX to rule out instrumentation error
• these group not too bad 100m POI a bit low compared to 300gr TSX / 350gr TTSX
• muzzle brake-equipped rifle - low recoil

41 caliber 210gr Berry's plated bullets sourced locally 28 cents each great for cheap plinking (paper-patched / Blue Dot) with my .416's.

Today: 350gr solids increase muzzle speed

• increased Re19 powder charge 350gr FN/2700 fps & 350gr RN/2730 fps
• 350gr RN 100m POI approx. same as 350gr TTSX
• 350gr RN bit faster than 350gr FN same powder charge
• recoil demo very effective muzzle brake my 9.3x62 kicks harder

Thats a great set up i dam near bought that one when i seen it. Lol. With the brake recoil looks pretty tame. Thats an absolute hammer !

Custom Mark V Canadian Northern Magnum Weatherby done good unbelievable kicks like my .308 Win. Got all 4 .416's like this 1 the best. New to me Mark V familiar now with how it operates minor issue sling studs a bit loose these screw into brass inserts applied Loctite 242 fine now.

Main hunting rifle for the next while gonna see how it performs in the field.

This is really interesting stuff. Keep it up. What's the H2O capacity of a fired case? I want to get an idea to compare to the Rigby case.

It may be an idea to try some of Terry's Jet bullets. He makes a nice 375 gr FNGC. I've been using this in my 416 Rigby using IMR 4451 or VV N-140 to reach 2100 fps. A very nice practice load for offhand practice.

Oddly I'm not getting any leading at all.

Sure would be nice if .416 caliber cast bullets were readily available save time dicken around with 41 caliber pistol bullet prep however I made these work for me for plinking.

Quick reference .416 case capacities assumed total volume to case mouth, Barnes Reloading Manual #1 -

Wby: 140.80 grs (water)

Rigby: 132.56 grs

Rem / Ruger: oops not listed there

Hi- Thanks for that. I measured my fired cases at 131.7 grs.

Soon as I posted my message the other day I made a mental note to get more Jet bullets for the 416. Now I find out he's closed the business down.

So now I'm back looking for a supply of cast bullets.

Case volume might vary by manufacturer .416 Rigby cases probably limited to Hornady & Norma.

Don't know of any domestic 416 caliber cast bullet suppliers .416 not much demand found this 1 state side: https://www.montanabulletworks.com/product-category/rifle/?filter_caliber=416

If obtainable a bit pricey probably ~CDN $1 each with exchange/surcharges plus shipping cost.
