CzyHorse: I'd seen references to paper cartridges some years ago, but never really got interested in loading them until Cliff Manley came out with his forming kit. So when these cartridge forming kits became available through capandball, that got my attention. As you already know, these kits are very finely made and will last for a lifetime of use. Plus, they make good cartridges.
I did make some minor adjustments to template dimensions, depending on which bullet used. Otherwise, had no difficulty at all creating good cartridges. I agree....despite their fragile look, paper cartridges are surprisingly durable. Plus perform well. They still won't handle a lot of rough handling, though.
As for lube, I like to make my own. A simple formula of tallow/beeswax. Made a bit harder/softer, depending on time of year. Works quite well. Just about any clean tallow works. Whitetailed-deer tallow being a personal favourite.
