Reloading .45 ACP with RCBS dies

that's not good...
that is why i clean my brass before it hits the dies.
If it is scratched why would rcbs replace it?

have you lubed your brass? the old ones are not carbide and need lubricated brass. makes a huge difference in force needed to resize.

perhaps try to polish it out. the slight larger diameter likely will not be a problem for your gun.

That is a reason I use a universal decapper to deprime before I tumble. If I don't do a whole batch of cases. I put them in a container with water, dish soap and lemishine. Give it a shake for a min to clean off the dirt. Then rinse and dry.

My sizer dies normally have the decapping pin removed.

Well gentlemen, problem solved, thanks in large part to you folks. Here's where it stands. The dies are an older set so they're steel, not carbide. I wrapped some 2000 grit paper around a 3/8" pin punch shaft and started rotating the die around the axis. It didn't take too long and I had a mirror finish and all the scoring removed. For those who were so so free with their advice, thank you. I always tumble clean my brass as a first step and I'd done so with the all this .45 brass, so I believe the die was scored when I bought the set. Also, not being carbide, for sure I have to lube the cases prior to sizing. When I did so, it was much easier to cycle the cases through the die. I'm all set to go now and start working up loads.
