I bought some .45 small primer cases here on the site and was asking a fella the other day what primers I should use to reload with. He responded to me that .45 small primer cases are not reloadable. Is this true? If so why not they look no different than other large primer cases.

BTW, there is absolutly nothing wrong with your shells, use small pistol primers and load with your favourite powders and bullets

I can understand that small primers would work in a .45ACP.
( IMO Winchester is just covering themselves in case of an accident ).
My question would be related to the press, specifically the primer feed. My Dillon SDB has a shell plate for .45's with openings for large primers.
I can put in the small primer tube & arm but will the primers go into the primer pocket straight ??

ok, let's get this right - the SMALL primer pocket on the 45 acp winchester brass is for THEIR version of NON-TOXIC AMMUNITION- IE IT DOESN'T HAVE LEAD STYPHENATE or whatever is the PRIMING COMPOUND of MOST PRIMERS- amd WINCHESTER IS RIGHT , IT IS NON-RELOADABLE BECAUSE THOSE NON-TOXIC PRIMERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AS COMPONENTS- when you do away with that NON-POLLUTING( GREEN) OPTION, they ARE RELOADABLE- they also use a fully encased bullet, but i should imagine you can get those if you so wished- i have changed my primer tray and feed on my press for SMALL primers to accomodate this with no problem - it is rumored that they produce a hotter flame than the large pistol- AND THE FLASH HOLES ARE THE SAME SIZE- that's the OTHER RUMOR that TRAVELS WITH THIS STUFF- i haven't run into it with winchester NT( GET IT - NON-TOXIC?) BRASS BUT THE FEDERAL has a CRIMPED IN PRIMER

The Winchester brass has the primer crimped in too.
As stated, you'll need to chamfer it out.
I'm Not familiar with the Square Deal, but the 550b works fine with 45 and small primers.
I asume that if the case is centered with the shell plate, the small arm will center the primer, and you'll have no issues?
