Greeting reloading gurus!!

I just bought a Pietta Millennium Colt SAA clone in 45 Colt. I have heard that 45 ACP dies can be used to reload 45 Colt ammo provided one has the proper shell holder (I do).

Has anyone done this, and if so, what did you do and how'd it work out?

I'm a cheap SOB and if I can make 45 ACP dies work (which I already have) I won't bother buying 45 Colt dies.

you need to slug your barrel and go according to that-the rugers use a 451-452 barrel in EVERYTHING - i have both a 45 old army, had a Blackhawk 45 convertible - 45 acp/45 colt- and they all used 45i-2 HARD CAST bullets- and am i ever glad i slugged first

X2 t-star. Some old .45LC were .454. .45 LC normally takes a roll crimp at ogive on 255gn rnf. The .45 acp dies normally taper-crimp, which will work with proper adjustment on bullet u choose SWC, RN, RNF 185 to 300 gn.

Done and still do it. I use the same bullets to skip on (too much) dies adjustments. I also resize the Colt brass just enough to chamber in a dirty gun which, I hope, will make the cases life longer.

Why wouldn't you just go buy a set of LEE dies? They're cheap and work great.
I've never understood why so many people always try to cut corners to save a couple dollars. If they were $100+ I could understand it but a set of dies are less than a pound of powder.
Sure it can be done but why not just do it right with the correct dies.
