Just going to throw this one out there. Has anyone in the past or currently reloading 7.62X39mm brass on their SKS or is it just cheaper to buy surplus. Reason why I'm asking is due to the extremly corrosive nature of surplus ammo. Anyone??

Some do, but it's much cheaper to shoot milsurp ammo.
I know what you mean by "extremely corrosive". I left one overnight once without cleaning (you know with pure windex) and all that was left in the morning were the wooden parts....

Actually if you were going to hunt with the gun which I plan on doing then reloading and playing with bullets and powder would probably double the accuracy of the gun. If she is just a range gun for you then staying surplus would be cheaper.
Here it is - < legal disclaimer here >Start lower than this: 33.0 gr H-335 for 123 SP Hornady, Fed brass, CCI LR primer. ~ 2340 fps from MY gun.
Brass IS NOT very easy to find but it's around... trust me.
I used various brands of brass, Win, Fed (large primers) and R-P (small primers), all good.

I have not had to take any real long shots at deer and with great shot placement on a white tail the bullet becomes a non issue. I do however like barnes and hornady, but the best bullet in the world will not make anyone a better hunter.
