are there specific legality's when it comes to reloading benches
do the powder, primers, and case's have to be locked and if so does it have to be a steel cabinet or what
I am thinking of using a computer armoire then padlocking it
can i store ammo behind a simple pad lock, or do i need an actual steel cabinet or safe
any replys would be appreciated
mucho thanks

so locking powder, primers and cases, and also maybe loaded shells in an armoire would not be in any way illegal as long as the cabinet is securely locked?

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the law or not but the storage container should/must have at least one side that will easily open/fall apart.

Smokeless powder doesn't explode. It burns. Generally fast and hot, but it doesn't explode. Few steel cabinets are air tight, so if you locked your powders in one and by a freak accident the powder caught fire, you'd have jets of hot fire and gases shooting out, but no explosion. A wooden cabinet would catch fire and spread the fire throughout your home.
Industry stores paint and assorted flammable solvents in steel cabinets for a reason. Steel will usually contain a fire. Wood won't.
A loading bench is just a solid table. Nothing more. As convenient flat spots they do tend to attract stuff though.

I read something about a wooden storage box at least 1" thick. I guess it will contain the fire long enough before it bursts into flames. Remember a thin metal cabinet can still start a fire by conducting heat to things in the surrounding area maybe even wood or carpeted floors.
