Don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier. I have an old aquarium stand with lot so of underneath storage that weighs about 80 pounds empty. Bolted the press on and it works great now!
I’m going to try clamping a piece of plywood to the table and see what happens. I’m not doubting your guys’ expertise and I appreciate the advice but this was $20 attempt. If it fails I’ll go get a dedicated work bench
Done right, that can work fine. Have about 4 to 6 inches of the board hanging over the table edge where the press is mounted. Have the other end of the board extend back at least 2ft back over the table and use a clamp or clamps to secure the far end. This works as a cantilever and reduces the strain on the back mount by at least a factor of 4.
I use one of these for my reloading bench it has a decent wood top adjustable feet to get it level handy peg board and a couple of drawers oh and a shelf above the peg board.
if you can snag them while on sale they are a good deal they regularly go on sale for 50% off like they are right now. They are a bit tall but I prefer to stand while I reload (pistol loads on a Dillion press)
a bar stool or shop stool works well for extended sessions. I have always found light tables or desks have a tendency to tip
or pull over towards you while cycling the press, this can be a real problem while resizing as it can require a good solid crank on the press handle.
