How do keep track of your reloading data? The old pen and paper or software like excel? I just got into reloading and I'm interested what the reloading community prefers.

Pen, Paper in a binder for me. I also use the "Hand Load" Iphone app to track cost/basic load info

Pen and paper. A page for each gun.

Both. I have a notebook where I record the particulars of each load I make (case, how many firings, primer, powder, charge, bullet, OAL) with comments on their performance. I use it also to record any measurements I make on various cases or projectiles. I also use a spreadsheet to record load recipes from any source (powder or bullet manufacturers, reference books, forum posts) for easy reference ("did I make a round with this OAL using this projectile and powder in the past?").

Hard copies such as those produced by good old pen and paper are preferable IMHO.

As Ganderite suggests, a separate section of a binder for each rifle is almost a must and you don't have to look all over a spread sheet for pertinent info.

Not only that, hard copies don't crash and lose all of your information when it's needed most

Detailed records kept in Excel.Very nice to help see patterns develop that you missed before.

Then, a simple print out of this to keep in the loading room, I hate clutter , the less items around me the better.

Pen and Paper, The binder does at times come with me to the range so that I can update info. like speed or weather conditions or comments without resorting to marking my target or
writing on toilet paper untill I get the info. back home to update my binder.
