I've decided to start handloading for my .30 Carbine Automag Pistol ..
.. so I'm looking for some suggestions. It was designed to handle regular .30 Carbine ammo, so I'm looking for suggestions on primer/powder combinations to load lead bullets with that would work in a regular carbine. I have a access to a mold ( Lyman 115gr GC , I believe ) but I'm not planning on using a gas check with it, as the velocity out of the 8" bbl prolly won't go over 1200 -1250fps. That may change if I encounter problems.
I assume small rifle primers, but I have had problems in the past with some mil-surp ammo not going off because the primers were too hard .. too two or three hits to ignite. ( never had a FTF with commercial ammo.. ) Magnum small pistol primers have been suggested instead of small rifle.
Cleanest burning powder for the application?
I'll wait for some input before I even start .... my dies are still in transit anyway ...
Thanks .. DT
