Reloading for .450 Adams ???

Can anyone tell me if .45 auto rim brass will be suitable to reload .450 Adams ammunition ? Also would trailboss powder be good for it ? If so how many grain would be good but not too powerful ?

The Starline .455 Webley cases can be length trimmed and good to go if I am not mistaken.

The rim would need to be thinned a lot
If the cylinder isn’t counter sunk you might be able to use 455 just trimmed to length
If it’s countersunk the rims are too wide on 455
If you have access to a lathe 45 colt trimmed and rim thinned is the cheapest way to go
Or just pony up for starline brass

In fact that is exactly what I do to make 450 Adams. Just need to turn the Lee dies down on a lathe a little bit. As for a load. I think most would recommend black powder but I hate the mess and use smokeless powder with caution. I tried Unique but had too many squibs and gave up on it. I now use Trailboss. 3.5 gr behind a 185 to 220 gr pill works fine for me.

Turning down the rims of 45 auto rim would be too much work.

Now if only I could find a trigger return spring to get my Webley MP shooting again.

45 Colt will also work with thinning the rim and a length trim.

British calibre designations have always been somewhat confusing. The .450 Adams is actually a .455 calibre cartridge (... as is the so-called ".476" Enfield, for that matter ...) and cases are easily made from Mk II .455 Webley cases - needing only to be trimmed to length.
