Thanx Curtis.
Spoke with guys at local shop. They got me thinking super seriously about a 408. Also mentioned that the Canadian Forces guys can only shoot 11 rounds of BMG a day. Causes retina detachment and other stuff from the concussion. Then another guy spoke up and asked about the machine gun guys. What do they do?
A 408 I don't have the land to shoot it beyond 2800 yards right now.
Dude you seriously need to start dealing with a REAL gunshop, and quit listening to morons who apparently have ZERO knowledge on shooting a 50 as it appears the twits you are dealing with are rank amatuers. Do yourself a favor and give Rick at ATRS a call, he is without a doubt the Canadian athourity when it comes to 50s and bigger.
Having attended several 50 cal shoots I saw many guys including several of the ATRS folks put out well over 100 shots of 50BMG in a single shoot. The most I personally have run through my own 50 in a single day is just shy of 100 and guess what,? Nothing wrong with my eyes.
The B.S. that surrounds the 50 is actually more impressive than the facts.
The 408 is a nice little round but pales in comparison to what a 50 is capable of in the real world.
The 375 when it is hot rodded seems to be 1 of the more favored ELR calibers along with the 416 Barret, just not shot out of a Barrett made rifle. Frankly I believe this has much to do with the stupid laws that some of the States now have. The K02M shoot in 2018 was won with a 416 IIRC.
This year should prove interesting with a K02M sanctioned shoot being held in Alberta.
Something to ponder on. The higher the B.C. and the heavier the projectile at a given speed will produce better long range results than a lighter bullet with the same B.C. at the same veloicty when it comes to real ELR work.
