Reloading for 7600/760 Pumps

I am being told my orignal RCBS FL dies will not work when reloading for remington 7600/760 pumps and I haver to buy new small base dies.
Years ago when I reloaded for the 760/ 7600 I never had any issues with FL dies and cannot really afford to buy all new dies.
What are you 7600 pump reloaders using. I may pick up a small base one for my 3006 semi since I do remember that one giving me some issues but never the pumps.
 
I hear that 'some' pump and lever action rifles 'may' require small base dies but I have reloaded for several different Remington pump action rilfes from .222 to .308 over many many years and have never had one that would not work well with regular dies. Try it and see if the regular dies work or not, before buying expensive small base ones......wTc
 
I have used regular Lee FL dies set to just bump the shoulder for 2 separate 7600s. Small base dies were not required.
 
hunted with a 760/7600 for30+ years and reloaded for its since new and i only use a fl rcbs die set ...only issue is loading to heavy and not having the slide want to open

Why wouldn't you just FLS a piece of brass & see if it cycles fine ;)

From my experience there's a good chance you don't need them for a 760.
I have had to use SB dies on some BLRs, & Win 88-100s but not all.
I have always found the best to question "I have been told" answers ;)

I am not there yet ;)still gathering what I need to get back into rifle reloading and have to build a new bench since my shotgun stuff has taken over my existing set up. Just trying to get some feedback from those reloading 7600's to see what has changed in the last 12 years.
I had no issue either years ago using FL but I was using imperial brass which I find now when comparing it to what I just bought say in winchester way way better quality.

i have both the 7600/760 in 30-06 ..i use both the full sizing die or the regular die..
never noticed any difference(well except when i first stated to reload,but that was an other issue)
 
My 7600 in 35 Whelen works with the standard RCBS dies, at least initially. After the cases have been fired a time or two chambering and extraction get progressively stickier. I've got around that by useing new brass for the few shots taken hunting, bu it would be candidate for a SB die. One of these days I'll cut the neck off a 30-06 SB die or get some brave soul to ram a concrete bit through through on a lathe and make a universal '06 case body die.
 
I have several Rem pumps in various calibers. Use standard dies with no problems. I load about 50 different calibers and have yet to need SB dies.

Can you borrow a sized piece of brass to try in your rifle, before you buy the dies?
 
I have used Lee FL dies for my 760 308 carbine and Hornady New Dimension FL dies for my 7600 35 Whelen without any problems. I have experienced hard extraction when shooting 308 military Chinese, 147 grn in my 760.
