Hello All,

I am just in the process of firefroming my Dasher out of Lapua 6BR purchased from Hirsch precision and am looking for load info from you that have been there, done that.
I have a selection of 105-110gr class bullets to start load development with, will probably be running Varget (but am open to options) and CCI 450 primers.
I am planning on a load workup of 31gr-33 ish (or until I start to flatten primers).
What are your build specs and recipes to give me some ideas!

You'll be fine, if you can't get a Dasher to shoot with CCI and Varget, something is wrong.

Why the 450 and not 400 or BR4?

To form 6 Dasher out of 6 BR:

Anneal case necks and a bit of the shoulder

Expand neck to 0.257 or 0.264" or anything in between ( I had a machinist make up a tapered expander out of 7/8ths ready rod)

Size case to create a false shoulder.

I use 30gn of H-4895 and a 105gn bullet

Load and fire, when closing the bolt there should be moderate resistance

The case will come out perfect.

I get 100 out of 100 perfectly formed cases by this method.

Find the shortest case and trim to that length for the rest, doesn't have to be 1.55" as long as they are the same, forming tends to shorten the case.

Jamming bullets and skipping annealing will result in radiused shoulders and split necks. The result being lost cases and a second fireforming. There are some good cases too.

Varget is my second choice for powder, First is H-4350.

The CCI-450's have a thicker cup.

I have read that the 450's are a more popular option for the Dasher's and CCI's are known for a thicker cup/harder primer right? I only have CCI 400's available right now and some 205M's and will see if the 450's are necessary.

I like the idea of the false shoulder method, but I have fireformed 100 cases so far with 30 gr of varget and some 90gr bullets jammed 0.030", with only two split shoulders. I will admit that they are slightly radiused, but not enough that a second FF will change the case dimensions a massive amount.

If you're running H4350, you must be using a heavier bullet right? I feel like almost everything I have read/learned from competitors, has pointed me to Varget, H4895 or IMR 4166.

Powders are Varget, Re-15 and H4895. Bullet Berger VLD&Hybrid 105, Lapua 105 and the Sierra 107. Velocity 2930- 3030.
Brass 6BR Lapua, Primer CCI450.
You can fireform using the COW method using 13gr of Bullseye. If you anneal be careful not to over do it, 6 to 8 seconds using a small propane flame.
Loaded shells will most likely shoot best with a 10 to15 thou jam.
Barrel 8T, 26 to 28 inch. Have found the Hybrids did not shoot well in some 8T barrels and others shot them well. So backed off the high BC and used the VLDs for some. Will try the Lapuas this spring.
For bench rest this is THE LONG RANGE PPC, nothing will match the Dasher.

I don’t have any experience with the 6mm dasher if I had more money and time I would. The only advice that I might have is flattening primers is a very inconsistent way to look for pressure. To be honest I think it’s an absolute waste of time.

I fireformed 75 pieces over the weekend with one split shoulder using the above load (30 gr of Varget, CCI 400's, unsized Lapua brass and a 105gr Lapua jammed .030"). This combo allowed me to jumble together a chassis, mount a scope to my action and actually get some range time. I was able to get a rough zero, tune my trigger and get some preliminary numbers.

That load shot about 0.7 MOA consistently, but produced great speed numbers from a 26" barrel;
Avg; 2823 ft/s
SD: 2 ft/s
ES: 6 ft/s

I will load up another hundred or so over this week to FF more next weekend!
