I will be loading up quite a bit of 7.5x55, that I will form from .284 Win, for another gunnut this week and I want to do it right. I've loaded .303, 8mm Mauser, and 7.62x54r with good results but are there any tricks to loading 7.5mm Swiss other than seating the bullet low?

You know I have never had a seating issue with the 7.5x55 swiss., I used Lee dies and followed thier guide lines and later worked out an accurate load. I have used 168gr 30 bullets and even a few lead bullets with appropriate powder charges. There is a thread where a fellow gunnutz who blew up a K31 but that was due to an over sized hard cast lead bullet and handgun powder charge.

Here's a link to some data, ht tp://members.nuvox.net/~on.melchar/75swiss/index.html

Hi

Do a search, there's lots of info about loading 7.5X55 and it's dies on this forum.

I know, I put lots of it on here.

As for brass I don't think it's any cheaper to form .284 cases as it would be to buy the proper brass from Trade ex Canada.

And if you don't mind getting a little wet, you can reload the Berdan primed GP11 cases. Primers cost more, but seeings how Boxer primers seem so hard to find these days, Berdan primers are available, and they go bang just as well.
