Looking for some help here. I have reloaded for rifle cartridges (bottleneck) but never pistol (straight wall). I am trying to size my cases but something is obviously not right and I am sure it is something I am overlooking. Here is the background. I am trying to resize once fired Hornady 460 S&W Magnum brass on an RCBS Rockchucker press with Redding titanium carbide dies. As a disclaimer in the Redding die box it says that the dies set comes with a 45LC/454 Casull sizing die.

So initially I followed the Redding directions and had the dies just touch the shellholder. Sized one piece and got this horribly sharp ridge about 1/8" from the base of the case. Did a second case an got the same result. So I read the warning label about sizing slightly longer cases on the warning label (which did not mention the 460 at all) and it said to back off the sizing die 1/8" off of the shell holder then tighten down the locking ring. Tried that and did not get the sharp ridge at the base of the case but the bottom 1/4" of the case does feel slightly bulged as it has not been sized like the top portion of the case. What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do to make this right? Am I sizing too far down. Please help this is frustrating so I had to step away and I only have so much brass too. Thank you for any direction or advice.
