Reloading for AR

Depending on how tight your chamber is or isn't, you may need a small base sizing die to have reliable feeding. Not always needed depending on the rifle, but if you are getting issues with it failing to go into battery, something to look at. if you pound through a lot of loads without cleaning, a small base sizer helps to keep rifle functioning.

No offence, but the only thing a small base die is good at is overworking the brass. Unless you have a tight chamber (highly unlikely with an AR) they simply are not needed.
My advice: skip it and use a regular full length sizer. ymmv.

Agreed, I've been reloading for semi auto 223's for a few years and I've never had problems with using a standard sizing die.
Don't bother with a small base die unless you need one.
