When reloading for a semi can you run loads as hot as in a bolt action?
I assume you don't want to get close to max pressure in case the cartridge casing bulges and sticks?.

When seating - COAL/ OAL for a semi ( using Nosler or Hornady projectiles) how many thousandths do you back off? Any difference compared to a bolt action?

Any input would be appreciated
... and if you have a Benelli 3006 with a favourite load combo I would love to hear about it.

"...reloading for a semi..." The only difference between semi's and a bolt action is that you must full length resize every time and watch the case lengths. Follow your manual religiously and you'll be fine. Think 165 grain hunting bullets with IMR4064. There are other powders that work just as well, but I've found the 4064 gives consistently good accuracy.
The case isn't going to expand in the chamber more than the chamber walls. And reloading manuals follow SAAMI specs.
"...favourite load combo..." Wouldn't help. No two rifles will shoot the same ammo the same way. You have to work up the load for your rifle.

I have 2 Benelli R1's. A Fancy wood, and a comfortech.

I run at least 5lbs of powder thru my comfortech one every year (since ?2006now?) it's been awhile.

They both shoot all ammo the same for me, factory and reloads. Winchester grey box good. Fusions the worst. 180's POI is around 6" higher than 150's.

I run Hornady bullets, either SST or GMX, 150grn. I reload with small base dies. They shoot a little more accurate with regular full length dies, but I don't want any malfunctions (I use brass from wherever I can get it as I run through so much and never find them all). I use WLR primers and 59.9 of IMR 4350. Both rifles shoot winchester brass the best. Federal the worst. Brass seem to be the key.

Hope that helps a bit
