Hey, I am looking to start reloading match ammo for 357 mag (4.2" bbl) and am wondering what are the 'standards' for accuracy? IE bullet types, powder preferences and etc; is match pistol ammo better than standard factory ammo? For rifle loads I can always start at 6mmbr for reviews and to see what other guys are doing for their loads. I have been looking, but haven't found an equivalent for the pistol world.
The loads will be for the Alberta Tactical Handgun league. I would like accurate loads but at the same time stay as a major caliber in IPSC. I have been looking at the hornady 158grn xtp at anything over 1,080fps. I have also read that semi-wadcutters or Keith bullets are very accurate? But that they should stay below 900fps or I'll get leading in my barrel/chambers? I am looking to milk every last bit of accuracy from my handloads so that if I shoot terrible I at least know that it's operator error and not equipment error.
Also, in terms of dies, are there brands that shine? Can be found to be concentric and etc? For rifle I use redding comp. dies, but do have a set of lee collet dies and I feel I def got more than what I paid for.
