Just curious if anyone has found any data for reloading the 123 grn lapua scenars with Reloader 17 in the 6.5 x 47 cartridge. I have searched countless forums and have found every combination but this one. Yet apparently all over the states guys are raging about this powder bullet combination......

Are you shooting this yet or just looking for info? I've gotten most of the pieces for mine so I'm interested in your results. There doesn't seem to be a ton of info about RL-17 in the 6.5-47L but it certainly is being used a lot in other cases. One said to start at 39.0 grs and I see others using as low as 32 or 33 grs. It seems that 3000 fps is the number you're looking for so I think I'd start at that 32-33 range and go up. I plan to also try Varget and H322 besides RL-17. I probably won't get with my gunsmith until April to build mine so it will be awhile before I have any specific numbers but I'd like to see what you get.

I have one rifle built and another should be done early this week. In my first rifle I was just using 38.5 grns of H4350 with the 139 scenars. Not bad accuracy....around 0.5 moa, but still looking for better. These were the only tested loads I have shot so far.

In the snipershide forums, somebody mentioned a starting load of 36.0 grns of reloader 17 with the 123 scenars. A couple others mentioned they had got up to 3000 fps, but did not say what powder charge they used. They did mention that the accuracy dropped off at that velocity.

Reloader 15 and H4350 seem to have lots of info though. Varget seems to do well with the 130 Berger VLD's as well. I have so many 6.5 scenars in 139 and 123, it would be nice to find a load for them.

Nothing beats a nice spring day when you can take the reloading press right to the range and do load development. 5-10 rounds at a time and keep testing till you get something that shoots.:)

Looks like some say you can substitute H4350 data for RL17 and you will get a little higher velocity. Did you get your own reamer made or you using your smith's? I got one from Dave Kiff with no neck turn and short freebore, .125. Planning to build on a 700 but I'm considering a custom action so that may delay me a bit. I'm lucky, I only have to drive a couple miles to a friends farm, shoot, and I can come home reload and not have to pick things up.

That's very interesting with the H4350. I had Ultimate accuracy in Manitoba build my first 6.5x47 on a REM 700 in an AICS and PGWDTI is building my second on their coyote platform. Both companies had their own reamers.......

That sure is sweet for reloading/load development. You sure can get good progress that way. Otherwise it can be quite time consuming.

Friend has 6.5x47 lapua that shoots .2" at 100,shot with him at Connaught at 1000 he was putting the in V bull 6" quite often and, most all where in bull.
He use 130gr Bergers and RL 15
He uses RL 17 in his win 284 but thinks RL 17 to slow of powder for the 6.5 small case

I understand his thinking yet there's guys that think RL17 is the cats ass in the 6BR. I think a guys got to give 17 a chance but there is lots of data for other proven powders. I also think the new IMR8208 could be interesting when we can get our hands on it.
