I previously reloaded for the M-1 Garand using 57 gr of IMR4895 with a 150 gr bullet. I just got a Garand again, but don't have any IMR 4895. Can I substitute H4895? I know pressure is critical in operating a Garand, and I don't want to break anything.

I hope you mean 47gr of IMR4895. The Hodgdon site gives a max load of IMR4895 as 53.0gr under a 150gr bullet. The Garand should never be loaded near that level due to possible gas system damage. If it matters, they list a max load of H4895 as 51.0gr with a 150gr bullet.

You can probably work up a load with H4895, and I'm sure you're correction of 47 grains is right. To be honest, 47 grains is not hot (at all...) and I think you'd probably be okay just shooting it. If you have BL-C2 on hand, you could work up a load with that too.
