Reloading for the M14 (bullet & primer)

Hi,

I would like to start reloading for the m14. Where can i find cheap FMJ (but not steel core) bullet ?
What kind of primer is suggested for this rifle ?

Try Henry Nierychlo on the forum for bullets, primers i use cci br2, and imr powder, try and get primers and powder local as you save on the haz shipping.

I pay around $30 for 1lb powder and primers cost me $49/1000

Some of the forum sponsors carry Hornady 150gr FMJ .308" bullets. I also cast my own lead ones.

I like these or any 147-175gr .308 bullet with BLC2 Powder, W748, H4895/IMR 4895 or IMR 4064. I use Winchester Large Rifle primers and CCI are also recommended for these rifles.

I've had a Norinco M14 for about 5 years. About 1500rds through it. All reloads . Most of that being 150 gr Hornady bulk FMJ, 4064 powder and Win primers. Cost around 45 cents per round. Accuracy more than OK for plinking and informal match shooting out to 300yds .

the old TARGET load used to be 168 grain sierra smk, 43.9-44 grains of ww748, and a cci lrge rifle magnum primer- i dropped back to 42, used a remmy core-loct that i get in BULK, ( 165) and worked my way up to reliability at about 43.5-43.9- 44 .1 started to show flattened primers- it's WELL DOCUMENTED- ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK UP M14 TARGET LOADS by zediker- it's on the net- br2 or milspec primers are NOT NECESSARY and a MARKETING GIMMICK as far as the m14 is concerned
