I'm going to start reloading for my wife's rifles for next hunting season. She's shooting a Ruger American. 243 and I've bought some Barnes 80 gr TTSX and some Hornady 80gr GMX. Powders on hand are Varget, RL15 and 25, 3031, IMR 4895 and 4064. I've read some reloading manuals but I'm curious if anyone has found a powder that this caliber likes?

I load 80gr ttsx in my gas's weatherby vanguard. I load 35.5gr of varget with cci primers win brass col of 2.222" to the ogive. Speeds are 3077fps. Groups are .5 to .75" at 100.

I also use Varget (primarily) for loading 80 to 87 grain bullets and use W760/H414 for 90 grain.

Have loaded GMX (80), Sierra BTHP's (85), SST (87) and Scirocco's (90).

4064 is my "back-up" powder for both powders if they aren't around.
