I just finished my first batch of .223 reloads for my xcr-l .223 Wylde. I’m very new to reloading, so I’m fairly happy with my results so far!

Just finished getting the rifle set-up. The best groups I’ve been able to achieve with various factory ammo is around 1.5 moa @100m. Surplus norinco and AE is about 2.5”.

I’m loading 53gr VMAX bullets over h322 powder with CCI 41 primers. Once fired Norinco brass. I didn’t crimp for this initial load testing and handloaded each round into the chamber.

Redding fulllength bushing dies with .245 bushing. Coal to 2.240 +/- .002

Started loading H322 at 23.5gr up to 25gr in .2 increments. 25gr is the max listed in Hornady’s catalogue at 3300fps. I wasn’t seeing huge pressure signs, so I may test some a little hotter.

This was the upper end of my “ladder”. Unfortunately no chrono.

I like what I’m seeing between 24.6-25gr. Going to load up some more in this range to dial in a sweet spot and move out to 200m. I just need to work on my reloading process to improve that consistency.

I’ve had great success with the 53 g vmax and CFE 223
My XCR-L was shooting 5 rnd groups sub MOA.

I loaded up some more rounds with 24.6, 24.8, and 25.0 as well as 25.2, 25.4 and 25.6 grains and moved out to the 200m.

The 5 shot strings with the lesser charges didn’t go as well as at 100m, but I had some VERY promising results from the 3 shot strings at 25.4 and 25.6 gr!

These are from the 200m

Sub moa groups are from 25.4 and 25.6 grains on H322

Like prior, I did not apply a crimp on the higher charges, and strictly hand loaded them into the chamber. I’m not sure how much affect that has, as I did crimp the 5 shot strings (taper crimp) and those groups seemed to go to ####. I believe I did over crimp, so I’ve adjusted the die back a bit and will re try next round!

The Wylde chamber accommodates a longer bullet well. If you have a 1:9 or faster twist, I suggest you try some 68 & 69 match bullets and also some 75 and 77s.

These buck the wind much better beyond 100 yards.

Ive got some 69 gr TMK’s I’ll be loading next.

Today I loaded up my two favourite charges from previous testing (25.4gr and 26.0gr of H322) and did some more testing, as well as loading up some 69gr Sierra Tipped Match Kings starting at 23grs of H322 up to 25.1gr.

Again, these are all from 200m, with minimum 1 min between shots.

As far as the 53 grain pill goes, I think I'll be sticking with 25.4gr of H322. As far as the 69gr goes, I think I'll load up some more at 23gr and 23.6gr, and see how it goes.

I've also got some H335 that I'll be trying with both bullets.
