I'm using a Lee single stage press and dies with good results for my .223. I've only been at this for 4 months.

Get a good digital scale, like a Dillon. Get a decent set of digital calipers....brand won't matter.

Case prep is the most tedious part, in my opinion, and being accurate with powder weights, and bullet seat depth are the two biggest issues for good reloads next to.....

Safety and record keeping. Follow recipes out of reloading books at first. Religously!!!

Have fun!

I'd also say go with RCBS. If you pick up a Rockchucker kit you will probably never need to upgrade, plus their customer service is tough to beat.

I bought the Lyman T-Mag II kit 4 years ago. It's worked perfectly and I've made 10's of thousands of rounds by now. If I was only going to load rifle cartridges I'd prefer a single stage press (ratehr than the turret press). Now that I'm loading for my 9mm though I'm happy I went with the turret press.

IMHO it really depends on what type of reloading you want to do.

What sort of ammo...rifle, handgun.

Then you need to determine your needs...how many rounds per year.

For me as an IPSC shooter VOLUME of ammo is important. I have to feed my .45 acp as well as both my kids G17s.
As such I just ordered a Hornady Lock N Load AP. It was either that or a Dillon 650 to get the volume I need without spending HOURS and HOURS at the press.

You should also get a good scale to confirm loads....I just got a digital one after years of hating my balance beam one.

I recently bought a Lyman1200 DPS II scale they are less $ than the RCBS, but still lots of $. Still well worth the investment I don't know how I managed with the old beam scale.
