I'm a member there, as well as Selkirk. Great facility. Outdoor ranges are very quiet. Indoor is Monday and Thursday evenings. Best to confirm you can do what you are interested in before joining. No IPSC or drawing from a holster, except Cowboy action shooting.

I think most gun clubs in Manitoba have drop in fees for non-members. At least one time anyhow to try out the range, then you would not need to spend the coin for a whole year if you don't think you will use it.

It would be best to come on a Monday or Thursday evening and have someone show you through the place. They don't really have a drop in fee for non-members. More along the lines that a member can bring a guest a couple of times to show him or her around. Come out and take a look around.

We would only need use of one shooting position not the whole range. Maybe if we rented the clubhouse they would go for that?

Yes, they have a 100 yard range for that purpose. About the only limitation is that you can't shoot at steel targets with centre fire rifle. Rimfire and handgun may shoot at steel targets, but not centre fire rifle, for safety purposes.
 
I got a reply from Selkirk Fish and Game as follows:

"Hello Jan:

From the large number of handloaders and shooters that are members of the Selkirk Game & Fish Assoc., I don't recall anyone putting a seminar as you describe.

I have seen 2 or 3 shooters set up tables with reloading equipment in the area under the overhang at the back of the clubhouse, no one has ever rented our clubhouse for this.

The fee for the rental of the clubhouse $50/day. Clubhose and range $100/day. Please refer to the event calender on our website for dates the range is already reserved for other events. Also, please note the range is closed at 5:00 p.m. each Wednesday evening for shotgun trap shooting.

Ed Konik...secretary"

Rental of both apparently allows non-members on the range. The set up of equipment under the rear overhang would work only for members. Weighing charges outside IMO is impossible. So basically it's pick an open date, sign up, etc. Weekend dates that are available as of their website are: July 23, 30, 31 // August 20, 21.

Thanks for stepping up and getting the legwork done on this! I am in for any of the July dates, August is too far away for me to say for sure but if enough folks are up for a July date, I'm in!

I am away the last week of July and first week of Aug. However with some of the other guys posting here you probably don't need me. From Snomads post here and in another forum I'm quite sure he knows as much (probably more) than I do. If another weekend is decided on count me in (as long as I'm not at a match).

I would be interested as well. I have some experience with reloading in both pistol and rifle cartridges so would be willing to share what I know and would love to learn more as well.
 
I am in the process of creating course content, beginner and intermediate levels, and have a classroom with all the gear set up. Im just completing a few renovations and expect to have everything ready to go by some time in January.

I've been in conversation with several manufactures etc and am waiting on copyright permission so I can create course pack manuals.

I've not been able to determine a cost yet as Im not certain what my costs etc will be up front, or how much interest there will be.

Perhaps I'll run a first course at an introductory rate so I can give my course materials a test run and get feedback from participants.

Apparently, I've not been getting notices on this thread until Mudchuckers post. Appears that there were not that many that were interested in the Selkirk range session. At any rate, Kevin appears to have a solution here anyway. A suggestion might be to rent the range only at Selkirk or elsewhere for a part 2 followup to the class session.
Kevin, where is the classroom located?
 
The courses are held at my place in Niverville.

Paatz, I have given some thought about the hands on idea... and to be honest, I just dont know... perhaps the intermediate steps would include hands on, or perhaps we do a course, and then schedule 2 on one sessions where we have 2 guys with similar caliber come out one evening.

at this point, Im really focused on creating a course outline - the gutz so to speak.
 
Ok I didn't realize this was not in Winnipeg, as the thread title suggests, so I won't be driving out there.
