I want to eventually get into reloading and I am thinking a kit is the way to go.

I see that Lee and RCBS offer kits. Are these any good?

both are good starting kits, if your loading handgun, do yourself a favor and buy one with a turret press. For rifle you can get by with the single stage

have fun!

Thanks for the reply. I am going to reload rifle so I hope these will still work. Right now, this reloading process seems like its going to be really tough and hard to learn but I bet once you get into it, it is really easy.

Thanks again

Go with the RCBS kit. Best to learn reloading on a singls stage, you won't regret the experience and RCBS Rockchucker Press will last you your lifetime and your sons. When you are ready to load pistol then go Progressive, Dillon, Hornady, RCBS all make great machines. While there are Lee lovers out there, most would agree they are not lifetime purchases and are substantially less quality then the aforementioned equipment.

I bought a Lee kit, but I had a RCBS scale. The lee one sucks, thats the only bad thing about the lee kit.

LEE delux turret press kit

I bought a delux lee turret press kit last week. It is lots of fun to play with. I spent a couple hours reloading my first 8 .223 cartridges :p . my only dissapointment with this kit is the auto-disk powder measure doesn't come with a charging die. that just means you need to spend $12 to get it operational. IMO Lee should have included that in the delux kit.

Is it tough to learn?

I'd go with the RCBS kit. There is nothing wrong with Lee, but some guys do upgrade from Lee equipment eventually. If you start with RCBS, you won't be upgrading later.

And no, reloading is not hard at all to learn. There are a few basic steps one has to learn, basically resize the case, prime case, charge with powder, seat bullet. Of course there's a little more to it than that, but essentially that is all you have to do to reload a rifle cartridge.

Go buy yourself a Lyman 48th edition load manual, it will walk you through in a very easy and informative manner, great to start with. It's not hard, just take your time and if you aren't sure ask lots of questions till you are. There's a pile of knowledge here for you to draw on, as opposed to what I offer, which is just a pile somedays.... The lyman is a great starter though, the lee's ok to, I just think the lyman is friendlier;)

If you go Lee, consider ordering from higginson and upgrading the press to the classic cast for the difference in price. This press has a reputation of being far superior to other presses from Lee.

Keep in mind I'm a newbie too, slowly gathering the bits to start out my reloading career.

How do people feel about the powder measure that comes with the Lee anniversary kit?

Do yourself a favour and buy the equipment now, that you'll eventually end up owning! Go buy the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master Reloading Kit! RCBS has absolutely the BEST customer service in the industry and warrants its tools for LIFE...not your life, the life of the tool! Only thing I'd add to the kit is a decent caliper and a powder trickler starting out. Pick up a set of RCBS dies, your reloading components and you're good to go! LEE stuff will get you into the game, but most guys I know end up upgrading after they get their feet wet in the hobby. If money is an issue, and LEE is your choice, call Higginson's and get the new LEE Classic Cast press, its the only LEE reloading press that I would ever consider owning.
