Reloading M-14(m305) .308 cal

Jerry quick question, do you ever get issues where the bolt feels like it fed the next cartridge all the way into the chamber, but when you pull the trigger all you get is a firing pin that goes click and the cartridge doesn't go off? I get that with 165's all the time, but never with 150's or 180's.

I use the tried and true load of 41.5 gr of IMR or Hogdon 4895 with a 168 HPBT - any brand I can find for cheap, boxer primed military brass - IVI, LC, or IMI, CCI primers, and an OAL of 2.800", FL sized for Service Rifle matches. My 150 FMJ and 155 BTHP uses 42.5 grs.

If you are shooting longer ranges, then the 168 rules out of the M14. Any heavier and it is hard on the gun. Shorter ranges are where the 155 match bullets really shine.
