Hi all,
I'm from the London area (live in St. Thomas), I'm back from college for a few weeks and I've always wanted to make my own ammo (cartridges and shot shells).
If anyone in the London area would like to hang out and maybe show me the ropes on how to do it, I would be very grateful. I'll bring the coffee!
I don't have a press or anything, I would just like to see how it's done

You can PM me here,

Thanks,

Your title makes it sound like you shot the last reloading mentor you had!
No wonder no one has replied!

Seriously now, I had a reloading mentor who had been reloading for 30 years. By studying reloading-books and reading threads on this site I quickly determined my Mentor didn't have a glue as to what he was doing and I wonder how he is still living. There are some real experts on this site !

Unfortunately, there are also some delusional know-it-alls posting here.... They typically get told on a regular basis to stow it. With a bit of perusing the reloading threads, you'll see who they are.

Thanks, I've been lurking for a few months now, doing research on what to do and not do. I do a lot of waterfowl hunting so I use a lot of shells. That's probably where I would start making my own ammo.

Hi since it's primary shot shells you want to be reloading - I would check out this place.

www.hummason.com/

they can provide you with the basics (hulls - shot - powder - wads - primers) research some MEC presses - once you have an idea - you can go to local Gun Shows and see if you can buy a used press. Stick to the published reloading data - once you made some shells - see how they pattern.

good luck and welcome aboard

Unless you know someone, or are a friend of a friend, or strike real lucky here, you should do the same as the most of us. Namely read several books and watch hours of You Tube and follow some of the really knowledgeable here. (Mystic Precision is my particular favourite0.

There are a couple of novice books that nail the basics, but hands on is the best for sure. Good luck in your search, but it is not that complicated to cover off the basics.

Candocad.

Check with the larger gun shops

some put on reloading days or classes or might know who does

and do not just ask one of the dozen employees in the store ask that person if they do not know to ask others

and best to be there in person just because they work at a gun shop does not mean they have ever seen a gun

Thanks, I'll check out the listings for any gun shows in the area. Do you find that's a normal thing to show up at shows? I feel like once people buy presses they don't really get rid of the old ones or buy better ones.

That's a very good point. I've had some bad experiences in some gun shops because of that. My favorite is when the employees won't give me the time of day because I'm in my twenties.
