Ugly at first but now okay. When they first came out six or so years ago I had problems with crimps unfolding in 12 gauge and shot spilling in my shooting bag. This was on a MEC 9000 that was set up for the old style AA. Apparently what was happening is that the wad wasn't seating properly in the base of the hull.
I don't know whether the wad configurations have changed or Winchester has thinned the edge of the base piece but now the AA HS hulls load 7/8 and 1 ounce loads well enough with either Winchester or Claybuster replacement wads although the crimps are not quite as nice as on the older hulls.
I can't comment on the new hulls longevity. I don't shoot them much as I still have a couple thousand of the old AA in reserve and will shoot those until they are gone. When that happens I'll choose between the new AA or switching to Remington STS hulls.
