Reloading newbie, starting equipment

Hey, take a look at some of the pictures of mysticplayer reloading for his custom long range precision rifles. He consistently shoots phenomenology small groups at "over the horizon" distances.

http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek075.html Look near the bottom of the article. Jerry is mysticplayer on this board. He has other threads on CGN about shooting a 223 accurately to over a mile.

He is using a Lee Challenger press !!!!! (and also uses Lee dies). This is the press that comes with the Lee Anniversary kit.

Reloading procedures and preparation make much more difference than the equipment used to put the components together.

That said, the Lee Classic Cast press is good quality and will last you a lifetime.

The Lee kit is a good start w/o spending gobs of cash. I bought one over 15yrs ago. The scale needs to be upgraded right off the bat, which I did. The rest will get you going just fine.

I'm interested in reloading 9mm, and .223 and maybe .303 as well and found this kit on the wholesalesports site and was wondering if it would be a good kit to start with:

It's a good kit for rifle ammo. But since you mentioned 9mm and .223, you are much better off with either a turret type or progressive. Lee makes both types as well as Lyman and RCBS for the three most common. Other makes are out there.

i just picked up the lee "O" press kit.just finished loading up my first box of .45acp.hope i did it right--i'll find out tomorrow.i hear you're looking for large rifle primers Lfsabch. i got them at dante for 26.95/1000 cci.

Many people start with the Lee Challenger kit,but in time many of them upgrade to RCBS,Dillon etc. However the people that start off with a Rockchucker usually only ever buy one single stage press over their lifetime.
