I'm looking into buying separate brass in 308 between my bolt gun and semi auto. Bolt I'll stick with Federal brass, but in my XCR-M I was going to buy PPU brand 308 and use the brass for reloading. Does anyone have experience with the quality of the PPU brass, good/bad?

For the 303 british is probably the best brass out there.
i have a few hundred rounds of it and while i use reduced loads, some of it has upwards of 30 reloads already. Much thicker then winchester brass and the primer hole is the perfect size unlike all the S&B brass i have.

I like PPU brass. It has come a long way in the last twenty years. The first Privi brass I picked up was a pain. It was in 7x57 and the standard #2 Lee Shell Head Holder was to small. The root diameter of the rim was over max. One time use only.

Never had an issue with rimmed cartridges they offered in Canada at all.

I find all of the cases which were once military are made to milspecs, hence the thicker sidewalls. Surprising, that extra material doesn't come cheap. It sizes well and will go around 4-5 reloads before needing to be annealed again.

PPU brass is second best to Lapua in my experience.Great quality, good measurements and long lasting. For that price you can't beat it.

It's all I use in my .22 Hornet, tough as nails. Have had 2 hornets over the last 3 years, not one lost/split case yet. Some of them have 7-8 reloads through them.

I use PPU brass for 7.5 Swiss and 6.5 Swedish. It holds up well and I've not yet worn out a case. Many cases have 10 reloads on them.

I've used the brass both from PPU ammo and the unloaded bulk brass.

Purchased 100 each of Lapua and PRVI brass of the same cartridge for two different bolt actions to keep headstamps/per rifle.

Neck turned, OCD'd the PRVI, fire formed, 3rd reloading for both sets.

In my limited experience PRVI has more consistent primer pockets and fire formed exceptionally well over the Lapua. Happy with both but knowing what I know now, I believe the PRVI has greater value but we'll see over time. I followed Mystic's suggestion and purchased PPU from him...and it's been cornerstone advice. Certainly head and shoulders over the federal and Remington we've processed here.

Got 100 pcs. in 300wm and the necks were too tight. Had to stretch them out with the lee collet die just to seat the bullets, but once I fire formed them the first time, no issues after. I'm on my 6th reloading and still going strong. Great value for the money.
