Reloading press from U.S

i was also looking to import some reloading accessories from the states. when i went to midsouth to look at the rcbs chargemaster, it says it is regulated by the us dep of commerce and may need a export license. is this something new??

You can buy them from Natchez for $279.00 right now and the dollar is about $0.98 which is pretty good.

and also supported the American economy, CONGRATS

Hay time to chime in.... I work a job where the pay sucks big time, So my money goes where I get the most bang for my $$$ and if it's out side Canada then so be it. I'm not the only one out there who feels this way. If a canadian deal steps up and offers a better price then they can have my cash. I don't understand why a $129. press sells for $300+ here shipping isn't that much. it's just greed....

Now that is a good deal... here it's around $500+ no reason for that.

Kinda like paying $40 a lb for powder here that is $18 in the USA...............Thank you Obama for setting up Homeland Security........................Harold

Enjoy your MEC Grabber (I own two; in 12 and 20 ga.). And to those Canadian 'cousins' who support our economy, I say THANKS! We need all the help we can get.........

I just ordered a Hornady LNL AP, casefeeder, shell plates, etc.. from the states. I priced out 8 vendors (4 in canada, 4 in the states), added on the costs of taxes and gas to get down there and pick it up...and the package was still $400 cheaper to buy it down there.

Im all for supporting canadian dealers...but it does get a little ridiculous.

what duties? You only have to pay normal tax.

hopefully its just there way of covering their behinds, and its not actually restricted.. i think i shall send them an email asking for details

There is alot of misconcepiton about what can be shipped to Canada, this is generally in the smaller companies. But I once had the lady at Cabella's tell me reloading dies for pistols were restricted for export, but reloading dies for rifles were not.

Brownell's, Natchez, and Sinclair are generally ok and know the laws, Midsouth sometimes will get it wrong, and Midway is an absolute 'no' for everything, this stems from them getting fined by the state department a few years back.

Even with the retailers that will ship to Canada, you may find that you cannot complete a sale on the website, this is becuase they have not catagorized all their goods and the web software cannot tell what can and cannot be shipped. I usually find that a phone call is the easiest way to complete an order.

Finally, all reloading tools are still classifed as tools, and do not require any special paperwork.

Bullets and brass require export permits, I find reloaders international to be the best US based company for this.

Barrels and scopes, all require paperwork and it is generally not worth your effort to do this for only one item, as the state department licence is so much $$ that most barrel makers will not deal with a single order.

This is why I buy from local Canadian importers, or barrel makers.

i got a 8567 Grabber directly from MEC Reloaders for under 500 but its hard to find supplies locally and so far i havent been able to get anything shipped from the us

I have been corresponding with a Dillon Dealer on the castboolits website and I can get a new Dillon 550b with 3 conversion kits, 2 tool heads, extra primer rods, spare parts kit and shipped by USPS to my door for $10 cheaper than I can buy a bare bones 550b at P&D.

Is he charging you less than if you just dealt with Dillon directly?

Oh course, most places will sell you Dillon stuff at the same price or lower. Dillon sells to authorized dealers much less than you and I can. If a dealer hasn't sold enough in a single year sometimes a franchise will pull there agreement and will not be allowed to sell the merchandise. This is exactly what is happening over on the cast boolits website, the guy does sales part time and needs to sell some machines to keep his agreement in order.

I am not going to hot link but go to castboolits.gunloads.com and search under the group buy discussion forum for Dillon 550/650 buy.

I have shipped American items to a friend in the U.K. and labeled them as a "gift" and it was duty free, would the same apply for something from the U.S. to Canada.

I have received packages labeled "gift" from the US and did not pay duties.
I think there is a limit to the value of the item/s.

Having said that, I make no guarantees and sure as heck do not wish to argue with you because I do not want to be strafed by a P51 Mustang:D

May be out of topic, but I am a warbirds fan and would like to see a pic of your P51, if you please.

Where are you located? You should give The Shooting Edge a call, their prices are a bit more reasonable than P and D.

Thanks!:)

I've wanted a 650 for some time now. I can't really afford it, or justify it at the present time though.:(

I'd like to help him out though if it costs me less than buying direct from Dillon.:)
