after a couples rounds I dicide to do a other test at my surprise the quantity of powder drop down to 2.8gn so I check a couples other rounds and after.
the follow ine was at 3.4gn,3.6gn 4.6gn and 4.3gn.

this thing append a couple times on my reloading session.

please HELP

thanks

What powder are you using?

Do you leave the powder sitting in the press or do you dump it back into it's container when you finish?

I find it's useful to be as consistent as possible in your powder-dumping routine. If I give the disc one flick of my index finger, I give it one flick of my index finger every time, not two flicks, not a flick with my middle finger.

no the powder was not dump back it's container was stay in the press for a week.

drucker, I don't put much faith in powder measures. I measure, dump the load in my scale, and then dump into my case. In the meantime I don't put much faith in a Lee Powder Safety Scale either(not sure if that's your brand or not). They are worse than a powder measure. Lee makes pretty good gear for the price, but their scales are garbage. Get a half decent scale, I use a Lyman 500, and measure your loads. Once the measure is set up it usually drops accurate loads. I find ball powder the most consistant. While flake is next best. But extruded can be brutal, especially if long cut, in a powder measure.

Make sure your powder funnel and powder die are set up so you get a complete stroke of the powder bar, and make sure the pull down bar is adjusted for a bit of tension at the top of the stroke.

There is no good reason for more then .1gr variation using pistol powders if all is adjusted right and the powder is dry.

X2Canuck. I use my 650 for .38 spcl with bullseye or 231, and .45 acp with unique, always boringly accurate. Is there a chance you have wrong bar(hi volume) in your measure? If you cycle fast, does powder come out of case?

Just relaoded 100 rounds and I don't touch the setup and the powder stay on the press for the week.

I mesure each single load one by one to make sure I don't have variation.

every load was perfect, not a 1/10 gn.??????

A couple other things to check, make sure the powder drop assembly is all the way down and tightly fastened. It's possible to mount it so that the nylon bushing inside gets hung up and the whole thing is sitting a little high. You get screwy results (from experience). Also check that the return arm is fully engaged an positively pulling the actuating arms all the way down, there should be a little pressure on the spring when at rest and it should be well compresse during priming (also learned from experience).

Unfortunately the 650XL is easy to short stroke, I've made it a habit of pausing briefly at the top and bottom of the stroke just to be sure that everything happens correctly.
