I am looking to reload the hornady sst in 308, but I would like to reload excatly like the factory load (it works crazy well) does anyone know the powder and amount for the original brown-box loads?

the factory doesn't use canister powders. there is no way to copy.try working up a load with rel15 or varget. start at the same oal as factory. chances are you can even beat that factory ammo.

Best way go go about this is to get a chrono, get the velocity of the factory round , and try to match it . It may take 2or 3 try's with different powder to get it . But it's not a hard task

Hell with some info like barrel length etc, some one with quickload. Could figure out in a few min roughly how much powder you'd need to be in that velocity range

It's the fun of reloading, to see what you can produce. I am sure you can make something very close. I don't buy factory ammo, so I research to see what people are saying about the commercial ammo and then try to copy the performance .

You could always check the COL and pull the bullet and weigh the charge to get you a reference but you won't know what kind of powder it is. So your still standing on square one. I've had good luck with Varget in the .308.
