Hi guys
Jeff here. New to pistol and reloading. I've done hours of reading and video watching and I'd just like to discuss my setup n some numbers. Feel free to criticize and feedback. I'm confident in my choice of caliber as I'm not new to shooting and have scored quite well in some bullseye/ plinking on a recreational level

Here's my setup. I bought a cost effective lee pro 100 a Dillion beam scale digital micrometer case lube loading manual blah blah... I got 100 Remington 45 acp cases and 100 Remington fmj round nose 230 gr projectiles and cci 300(?) primers. I have a norinco np-30 n on the way this week coming.

I've loaded 15 rounds with a oal of 1.270 and used 4.51 grains of titegroup using the average of 5 throws from my power measure and a recheck every 5 shells to get that number.

So I'm wondering what should I expect? Anyone with this setup or similar might know am I too light? Too hot way in left field ? Or spot on for a good start to honing into a good load for practicing before I start into action shooting or ipsc?

Also what do u feel is my best approach. Should I find a chrono and start there ? Shoot the 15 in 5 shot groups the record data? Make more for my test base?

Any input for this newb is greatly appreciated. Ty for your time. Everyone have a great day be safe n get out n shoot!!! w:h:

The hodgdon website lists 4.8 grains of titegroup as max, so you're in the middle of the road.

In your hours of reading, did you read a loading manual? :) Most have loads listed for almost all common and semi uncommon cartridges.

I run 3 pro 1000s for 9mm, 45acp, 38/357.

You don't need case lube for 45acp, or most pistol cals. But it doesn't hurt it any. I believe 4.5 is what I used for tight group and 230grn bullets.

Using Berrys bullets. 1.240 as OAL.

Shoot a good, though a bit dirty, in my nor 1911a1 sport

Looks fpr excessive blowback on your fired brass, it will let you know if your loads are too light. I'd also look into CMJ bullets more bang for buck.

Yes I do have a reloading manual. But my recipes was not in it. I used the data off the lee instructions and online to come up with 4.5. But I don't know. I have visions of goIng to the range aiming and bang n the bullet only goes 4 feet. Falls flat on the ground. Oops guess I didn't put enough in

Ya something Brian enos recommended in his video. So I say why the heck not...:)

I've heard of Barry's bullets on YouTube a lot. Sounds like a great bulletfor practicing and plinking

Ok. Great one... So ur saying if too light. There will not be enough pressure in the case to expand it to the chamber dimensions and seal all the way around it well. N I would see this by excessive fouling in the case neck?
