Reloading recipes for M305

I found mine likes 42.5gr of 4895 with a Hornady 168gr HPBT match bullet and CCI primers. Can't remember the CAOL. Handloads are really this rifles best friend.

Let us know what brass you are using, as those loads would be significantly affected by thick walled military brass vs thinner commercial. I ran some on the weekend with 42.0 gr IMR4895, 168g smks, 2.8 oal, fed primers and IVI brass and go a 1.75" 10 shot group at 100 yards. I was hoping for better than 1.5". Not sure where to go from there.

it's hard to beat ZEDIKER 's match loads for the m14- that's posted on the net- there's pages of "recipes' but the conclusion i came up with was a 168 grain bullet and 43.9-44 grains of ww748, worked up with a cci 200 or 250( i believe it was a 250) primer- you should use the magnum version b/c of 748 being a ball powder- if you find the article, he's got representative groupings too

Grizzlypeg,
Why not try 42.5gr? I know for my rifle 42 vs 42.5 grains was close to a 1" accuracy difference. I am running Federal once fired brass though.

I can try a little hotter. It's hard to compare loads though when you are using different brass. I have hundreds of IVI military brass I painfully resized. Its brutally tough to resize compared to standard commercial brass like Federal (which I also have lots of).

I'll load up some Federal brass and give that load a try. Am I correct we are both talking about 168gr SMK's and Imr 4895?

right now i use 150 gr FMJBT with 41 gr of imr4895 and i got a batch with 42gr of imr 4061. Of course they are just plinking rounds but im still new to the game so I still alot to learning and playing around to do.

41 gr seems like a good point to start with then its .1 gr at a time until you find something that works

I'm using the Hornady 168 HPBT match bullets and IMR 4895. From my limited experience the Hornady HPBT are very similar to the SMK's, give a try and see what happens. When I bumped my charge up to 43gr my groups opened up considerably. Finicky little rifle I have! Let me know how it works out for you.

I am a new reloader-I read the Zediker article, and am thinking of using Hornady 168 HPBT match bullets and IMR 4895. -What CCI primers should I use and where is a good place get them? Also any good sources for lake city or similar 308 brass?

44.5gr WC735 with a 150gr FMJBT projectile. Winchester brass.

Got me this group (excuse the flyer, that was me) at 250 yards. 1 and 3 are touching by the way, the others are .223.

Im shooting 45.5 grains of 4064 under a 155gr nosler custom competition in IVI brass. Its a stiff one, flattens primers a little. But it shoots well.
