Reloading remington 700 sps ss 7mm rem mag

hey guys i have a new (to me) remington 700 sps ss in 7mm rem mag... I'll be hunting black tail deer and black bear... but also doing some target practice. and maybe an elk if the opportunity presents itself... Just wondering what you guys suggest for a good accurate recipe. should i be reloading more than one round depending on what i'm shooting? i'd like to have a do it all kind of round.

i'd appreciate some good recipe ideas from guys who use this same gun. but all recommendations are welcome!

Id say you'l be fine with One do it all load. a 160gr load.

Each rifle shoots different an you really do need to do some Load development an find the sweet spot.

How do you find Your Rem700 SPS?

i have my gun on order right now... so i'm not sure, my buddy has a rem 700 xcr in 30-06... basically the same gun as the sps ss except it has an extra weather protection coating in the metal parts, it's a super nice gun. we havent developed a load for it yet but it shoots well, really nice and lite trigger.

i guess what yousaid leads to my next question... what are your strategies for load development? pick a bullet then figure out what powder is best? or find a powder you like and then choose a bullet? whats more important the bullet or the powder?
 
Don't assume that the same make/model of rifle will prefer the same loads, each rifle is an individual. Choose a bullet that seems suitable, then choose a suitable powder, then work up from a starting load. I have had great luck with R-22 behind 140gr bullets in various 7mmremmag rifles, but either 4350, and either 4831, as well as IMR7828, have also worked well in some rifles.
