It started as a 50ft combination shack off a service rig....light plant and accumulator room with a tool room in the middle and the change shack at the other end.
I cut the light plant end of it off and made a wall to inclose the tool room which will be the reloading room.
It's not a large room but I think it will work fine, it had all the shelves and steel work bench in place so it seemed like a perfect fit.
The change shack is all finished in wood interior and will be my gun room.
Once I'm ready I'll be moving it into my garage.
Interested in your opinions!!

The bench top is 3/8 thick steel plate so I highly doubt there be any flex....it's all steel and welded! Got one more section to put up then the wall will be finished then paint. I'm thinking white with 12volt led lights. The reloading room is 5x10 a bit small but I think it's manageable. The gun room is 16x10.

I'm just checking my Nervous Nelly membership card and... yup, it's valid and up to date!

I don't think that storing and working with gunpowder in a steel room with steel shelves and on a steel table is a good idea.

The potential for accidental spark generation is pretty high in that sort of environment.

I am probably overestimating the risk here. Because I'm a big kitten.

Spark? Spark come from static. Steel is an electrical conductor, there ain't gonna be any static in there.

You want sparks? Rub wool on a plastic rod. Or rubber shoes on a carpet. Anything but metal.

Thee shacks were used in a possible explosive environment being around h2s gas and such and never sparked a fire! If it's a consern it can be grounded! That better

I was always under the impression that the stainless steel prevents the buildup of static electricity, reducing the likelihood of static electric shock.

Does the storage powder regs state anything about the type of container gun powder can be stored in? I remember reading something about wood but I could be way off.

Are you going to be able to move it if need requires?

Cheers,

I'll be cutting a hole in my house, pushing the skid in then putting the wall back up! If storage of powder in a steel container is a concern it can be kept outside of the skid but still in the house. But I'm sure the powder must be transported in a steel container at some point on its way to our doors be it seacan or rail car etc!

It would be cool to mount that to a trailer for easy transportation. How cool would it be to roll into the range with a portable armoury

Just have to say , being an old service rig hand , turning an old doghouse / into a reloading room is pretty cool....... just think of what you will be able to store in the Knowledge Box...
LOL
