Hey guys... I've been reloading for a little over a year now and had success loading 9mm. 45 acp and. 38.... I have been shooting one of my favourite pistols my Glock 35 in 40 s&w for awhile now and have accumulated tons of. 40 brass.. I just bought a Dillon square deal b and also have an older rcbs single stage... So I would like to know who has first hand experience with reloading the. 40 s&w cartridge... Also who shoots them in a Glock? Glock bulges? Good Recipes? Case life?
 
Right on auggie..... What powder and bullet do you use?
Dies? Do you use a full length resizing die? What kind of case life are you getting? Any bulges? Kabooms?
 
I reload for my Taurus. No worry about Glock bulges. Never had a kaboom. As for brass life, not to sure as I have a lot of brass, but I'm pretty sure that some of my brass is on it's 3rd or 4th firing with no issues.

For projectiles I like the CamPro 165 gr and 800X (I think 7.2gr?). For dies I'm just using Lee dies.
 
LOL. I'm going from my memory. I do have the load written down. I also have a 179gr that is also 800X, hence the uncertainty in my memory. Check out Hodgdon's website - they have load data for 800X on .40S&W.
 
My Geeee Lock 22 eats anything as-long as its SAAMI OAL.

Major Factor is 5.5 WSF with 180 GR JTT Bullets. 5.6 Longshot 180GR JTT Bullets.
Minor. 4.4 WSF with 180 GR JTT Bullets 4.4 Longshot 180 GR JTT Bullets. IDPA - Software shooting then 9mm imho. Out of a 35 they would be very sweet shooting. I want to get a GeeLock 35 sometime.

My primers are Winchester, Federal and now I am also using Fiocchi.

Fiocchi are very deep compared to Feds and Winchesters. No chance of light strike. They are cheap as well. Western Metals had a great deal.

Glock Bulges only happen in Gen 1 maybe 2 as well.

Thanks for the reply.... I absolutely love my Glock 35.... Hands down best shooting gun I have... I love my 1911 as well but I am more accuratr. With the 35... ... Happy pill you have a a factory Glock barrel? How many times would you reload a case? I'm assuming you don't use a bulge buster or a full length resizing die?
 
I load 40 for Glock, SIG, Norinco, FNS and some others.

Of course I use a Full Length sizer. For pistol never heard of any other option. I finish all rounds with a Lee Factory Crimp die.

Case life is until I lose the case.

I load for accuracy, not power. Making the PF is easy.

I use Tite Group and the 180 gr DRG cast lead bullet (all pistols has the factory barrel). Each gun gets tested with 3.5 to 4.5 gr in 0.3 gr increments to see what it likes. Most get best accuracy with a mid-power load.

My 40 dies are Lee Carbide.
 
My reloading stuff is mostly in boxes after a basement disaster, but I wanted to load some .40 for my Glock 22. I c-clamped my turret press to my coffee table, took out the indexing rod, and deprimed and resized about 2,000 used brass. I now use a hand primer to prime about a 100 at a time on rainy days and use a Lee .5 dipper and Bullseye powder under 180 grain Berrys plated bullets. The dipper is supposed to drop 4.7 grains. It seem to do the trick for me. Very accurate and dependable. When my basement is back in order I will set my press back up with my primer station and powder thrower etc. but for now manually with a dipper is okay.

FYI - Modern Glocks don't bulge 40 brass; it's the old ones that do.

If you are loading with the square deal for 40 then you have 0 choice in dies. You will use the dillon sizer and crimp dies as that is all that fit....
 
Yes.. On a square deal b I am stuck with the the Dillon dies.... I'm ok with that.... I wasny sure if it would be necessary to run the brass through a Lee bulge buster on my single stage also... Just seeing who else does..
 
I believe the bulge was a thing in the past. I have been loading from 9 to 44mag, including 40S&w for my g22, p30l and p226. Never had any issue. I am using 550b with lee die which does give me coke bottle shape case at the bottom, but never any issue.
As for powder, I was using longshot 5.5gr with great accuracy @25 meters in all my 40 cal pistols. I am now consolidating powder and started to try w231 and titegroup as they are more versatile and use less powder. Haven't gotten to do 40 on the new powders though. Just went through 9 and 45acp, and then "distracted" by 1000-yard rifle load test.

I'm not convinced about new Glock .40 barrels not bulging the cases, or perhaps I am just picking up brass from people using older Glocks.

I strongly suggest checking the brass (after cleaning and before loading) and the finished rounds (after loading) with a case gauge or with the barrel removed from your handgun.
 
I got a few thousand casings reclaimed from the Ontario Provincial Police who rents ranges club for practise days. Bulges are never an issue with their Sigs.
If you are worried about Glock bulges, get a better source of brass.

There's nothing to be convinced about, it's fact.

My Remington 180 gr once fired cases look like the picture on the bottom right thats outlined... The spent cases.. Once fired still drop into the chamber of my Glock 35 Glocks are not super tight chambers I hear ... I will find out how well my dillon resizing die works once I try it out....
