reloading the .577 snider

I have a booklet titled Manstopper Mania (56 pg) and it highlights about 1847-1902 British issue small arms post combat reports. In close engagements the Snider was never found wanting in the stopping power department. Niether were the various Remington rolling blocks briefly mentioned and issued to allied troops.
There was considerable discredit to the Martini Henry due probably to bullet construction. These were engagement Africa and Asia.

I'm just about ready to load 577 enfield. Wad punch arrived today, now have everything in hand except the brass and it should be here within the week.

I have two conical molds: Xring .600" 530gr, and a .576" 530gr HB minie bullet. Hope to have range reports soon.

I will use the .580" bullets to fire form the brass so I can load the .600" X-ring bullet with cornmeal filler and 3f powder. Seems to be consensus from several sources agreeing this combination works well.

I think I'll start at 60gr FFg. Any ideas about starting higher or lower? I'm very open to suggestion.

60 gr seems to be about right in my experience aswell. if you get to much over that, with my bullets anyways, accuracy suffers. another powder that works well and fills the case well is 5744

How old are these?

I've read that DCC stopped making Snider cartridges at the onset of ww2. Those cartridges could be from the 1920s or 1930s possibly.

New subject. My 528gr hollow base mold actually produces 425gr bullets. I guess they will work as well.
