reloading the M1 Garand info ???

Do you have a reloading manual that details use of the above components? I have made loads for my brother's Garand and I have kept them at the "starting load". We have a gas block with a sligthly larger port and it sorted out all of the feed issues with the gun and modern ammo.
 
Google NRA recommended handloads for the M1 Garand.

BTW; I used 51.2 grains of this IMR 4064 powder under a 150 grain bullet, many times in the past with my own M1 with considerable success.
But I did use the CCI #34 primer instead. And if you want a finer sight picture on distant targets, by yourself a 0.062 thou' front blade match post.
If you choose to shoot iron sights beyond 300 meters, you will not regret this additional purchase IMHO.

"...Lyman book it shows..." Load for the bullet weight. Who made it or its construction doesn't matter. IMR4064 is your friend. Gives more consistent accuracy than IMR4895. Especially with 168 grain match bullets.
"...the CCI #34 primer..." Marketing gimmick for magnum primers and nothing more. Regular primers will do nicely. The only really important part of loading for any semi-auto is making sure the primers are seated properly. Too shallow leads to slam fires. Mind you, you'd have to be a complete dolt to do that.
"...with a slightly larger port..." The .308 diameter gas hole gives too much gas. Shouldn't hurt anything though.

So, if these are NRA recommended handloads, I fail to see the danger in following these recipes.

But that's just me..........I guess ten years with fine use in my rifle and using this list has somehow no meaning to someone else?

Who told you that these were "very hot"?
